South African scoops GBC Future Business Leader Award

Sizwe Nxumalo from Witwatersrand University, South Africa, picked up the prestigious Future Business Leader award at the 2012 CIMA Global Business Challenge (GBC).

The award is presented to the student who possessed both outstanding presentation skills and the ability to convince the judges of their business standpoint.

Siswe beat more than 14,000 students to attain the accolade.

During their interviews the finalists faced rigorous questioning. Sizwe pipped Prachi Metha of team Veritas from the Middle East and Julie Niblock of Q Consult from Ireland, who were joint runners-up.

Szilard Brenner, internal audit manager, southeast Asia at Tesco Stores Limited and who judged the event, said: “Sizwei is a high calibre and inspiring individual who showed understanding of what it takes to be a great leader by sharing his experience and his vision to become one. These included; importance of recognising others, exposing them to their potential and encouraging people to work together towards a common goal.”
